The Friends of York Walls “Torchlight Walks along the Bar Walls”

A unique event celebrating York’s magnificent heritage. A torchlight walk along the Walls from Bootham Bar to Monk Bar (one way). See the Minster, Dean’s Park, and the Walls as you have never seen them before. This event is the first time a night-time walk has been planned on the Walls and is thanks to members of the “Friends of York Walls” a voluntary community group. Bring a torch with you.
Tickets: £3 per person, pre-booking is not required, bring a torch with you
The Ghost Trail of York

Dare you travel back in time and experience the spine-tingling stories of York’s ghosts. Suitable for families and children.

Guy Fawkes Trail, York Walk

Explore the (several!) birthplaces and haunts of one of York’s most infamous sons – Guy Fawkes of Gunpowder Plot fame.

Nordic at Night for Beginners

Join the Nordic craze and come along for a urban night walk around the river Ouse. Session includes 15 minutes learning the basic technique before enjoying a 30 minute Nordic walk with trained Nordic walking community instructors.
Meet at St George’s field car park, outside the toilet block.

Join your local Nordic walking community instructors for an hour long guided Nordic walk, along the river Ouse at night admiring the Illuminations of York along the way. You must be a competent Nordic walker to attend.

Time Tour Cruise, departing at 7.30pm for a one hour cruise. An early evening family cruise with recorded stories of York’s famous characters, ghosts and historical events.
Floodlit Evening Cruise, departing at 9.15pm for a 70 minute circular cruise. Relax onboard and listen to a mixture of background music and live captain’s commentary, whilst enjoying the sights of York’s riverside by floodlight.

York Viking Walk

The York Viking Walk is a fascinating tour through Viking York. The tour starts with the Viking invasion of York when Ivar the Boneless and his Viking Army defeated the Saxon resistance. It concludes with the events of 1066, when two crucial battles were fought in York.
